"In Plant" US Postal Verification
"In Plant" US Postal Verification or Plant-Verified Drop Shipment (PVDS) as it’s called by the USPS, allows for shipments from a lettershop (third party) such as All Direct Mail Services, Inc., to verify mail at a facility other then the USPS’s. This is called a detached mail unit (DMU). It’s like having the Post Office right in our building! Then the mail can be shipped to the USPS entry points by the third party’s own trucks or other trucking service. The mail is verified by a USPS employee that works from the DMU (meaning at our facility in a special office) who checks the mail, forms and postage. The benefit of this is it speeds up the time it takes to get mail verified and into the mail stream, whether it’s a local drop or an SCF some distance away.
